M&M's adventures - LA day 1

The hotel we are staying at provides breakfast so we went downstairs and there were yet more Aussies staying in the hotel. The things on offer for breakfast were just muffins and Danish pastries and coffee/tea or juice.

After breakfast we set out. Michelle had a list of stuff she wanted to see. One of them was Rodeo drive...

So I said "how about breakfast at Tiffany's?" Haha.
There is a Tiffany's on Rodeo drive with a cafe just next to it.
So we got a full day metro travel pass for $7 which would allow us to get on and off any metro bus or train for the whole day.

We made it to rodeo drive and then a late brunch/almost lunch there.

After walking Rodeo drive for a bit and window shopping, we went to tick the next item on the list... Seeing the Hollywood sign.

On weekends they have a free shuttle from the red metro station Vermont/Sunset to the Griffith Observatory. From there you can see the Hollywood sign and it's also a really interesting place.

After the Griffith Observatory we took the shuttle back to Vermont/Sunset and then took the red line train to Hollywood/Vine to see some of the walk of fame.
Was kinda fun spotting the stars of people whose work you know.

Walked up to the busy part near the Hollywood/Highland station. There was a movie premiere at TCL Chinese theatre. Michelle and I caught a glimpse of the Ghostbusters actors and other people going in.

After that was looked around Hollywood briefly before heading back to Santa Monica by train. I don't think this Expo line was completed the last time I visited but now the train goes straight to Santa Monica and seems very convenient.

M&M's adventures - Florida to LA [draft]

It was a very early start with little sleep for Michelle and I. We took a uber to the airport which was really good. It helps that I had a $20 credit on my uber account. We got an XL which turned out to be a van. In the end it was under $12 for our half hour ride to the airport.

The flight was about 5hours from Orlando international airport to Los Angeles airport. The west coast is 3hrs behind the east coast so we arrived around midday.

Took a shuttle to Santa Monica and I'm sad that they seem to be ending the LAX to Santa Monica shuttle service in September because it was very convenient. There were only 6 people on the shuttle but we got taking to an Australian couple from Burleigh Heads. We were talking about our trip and I was telling them a bit about how to get around with Blue Buses and the Metro system. The bus driver pointed out the Hotel California when we passed it and I was telling people about how I stayed there last year and how they were filming across the road.

The bus driver told me I was doing his job for him and that I should find employment as a tour organiser.

The shuttle ride ended just up the road from our hotel. I haven't stayed there before

Kennedy space centre @Cape Caneveral

After the Space center we drove to Orlando via an Italian restaurant called "Goodfellows" on the way.

We checked into the Hilton Garden Inn Universal studios and rested up so we could do Disney bright and early tomorrow!
