M&M&M's adventures - New York day 1

We arrived in New York at 6.45am, it's a 9hr flight to New York but they are 6hrs ahead of Hawaii.
After taking the Airtrain to Jamaica and transferring to the E train to Manhattan at Sultfin boulevards, we finally arrived at the Edison hotel. Last time I was here, I reenacted some Godfather scenes. This time, the area used in the film was closed off as they were doing renovations. The hotel is a quaint hotel in the heart of Broadway and close to Times Square.

After depositing our bags, we set off taking the train downtown and then walking to the start of the high line. I had wanted to do this last time I was in New York but had just run out of time.
The highline is a big walkway through the lower west of Manhattan. There are gardens that are carefully manicured along the highline making the walk a very pleasant one. There are also spots to sit and chill as well as good city vantage points. I really liked looking at the architecture of the buildings along the highline. There were also views down typical New York streets.

We ended our walk at the Chelsea markets. The markets seem like a trendy place. I found things expensive but they are probably specialty. There was a little Aussie pie shop that I don't suppose you will find elsewhere. And there was a shop selling food and teas from England. They are the kind of stores you might expect to find in Newtown Sydney.

Grabbed a bite of lunch there at a Japanese Mexican place. Yes that's right - it was like a Japanese Mexican fusion. It was nachos with chicken on top that was prepared with Japanese style seasoning. Very yummy.

After browsing the markets, we made our way back to the hotel for some rest as none of us had slept much on the plane.

After a bit of a rest we grabbed dinner at Shake Shack. I have been hanging for the Shack burger for the last 1 1/2 years since my last visit to NYC! The shack burger is a double burger - essentially a cheeseburger with an extra patty. The extra party is a crumbed mushroom party which makes it extra delicious. The shakes at Shake Shack are also a must for any tourist. Although these are extremely heavy and thick. I usually love caramel milkshakes but since they only have salted caramel, I went with chocolate instead.

After our meal we walked around Times Square a bit looking at the main stores such as Sephora, Disney, Hershey's and my favourite - the M&M store!!
